Clare Lewin was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she studied Political Economy and Quantitative Sociology at the Karl Marx Higher Institute of Economics (now University of National and World Economy), and worked as a researcher of social stratification and mobility at the Institute of Sociology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She immigrated to the United States in the early 1980s where she began a new career as a computer programmer, system analyst and database specialist, occasionally taking project leader roles. She joined OSA in 2009 where she works as a part-time Information Analyst, combining her skills and expertise in databases and system development with a passion for recent East European History. Clare holds an MA in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the Central European University, Budapest. Lately, she developed the Alfred A. Reisch's fonds HU OSA 312 Alred Reisch Collection that comprises documents related to his professional and academic career and his activities between 1957 and 2013. Since 2015 she is working as volunteer- archivist creating metadata descriptions for RFE Bulgarian broadcasts, which is part of the Hoover Institution’s RFE/RL Historical Recording Description Project.
