Scope and content

The series consist of the OMRI'S monthly printed magazine Transitions: Changes in Post-Communist Societies. The periodical was a continuation of Transition with slight changes reflected in the title and periodicity. As was stated in an article by Michael T. Kaufman, Executive Editor, in the first issue of Transitions in June 1997, "The change has been made less to distinguish us from others than to reflect the notion that no single set of transformative rituals will or should apply to all countries within the former Soviet Union and formerly communist Europe." (Transitions, vol. 4, no.1, p.3)
The magazine provided news and analysis of developments in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
