Scope and content

The series contains press clippings, news agencies releases and printed materials. It covers important political, social and economic events from the reign of the Yugoslav Federal Prime Minister Markovic through Milosevic’s coming to power in the League of Serbian Communists and his attempt to redesign the federal constitution by force using workers and associates in a so called anti-bureaucratic revolution. The files also contain material on Milosevic’s wars in Croatia, Bosnia and on Kosovo.
Of particular interest are biographical files and files on the political parties of the period. Other topics covered concern economy, problems of a state-run economy, the black market, corruption, inflation, privatization but also culture and media. Files on social issues contain information on religion, national minorities, migrants, refugees and NGOs. Thus, these files provide historians and researchers with valuable information about political, social and cultural life in Serbia during the reign of Milosevic.
