Scope and content
This series contains Bulgarian newspaper articles mostly from 1996; some from 1997 and 1995, as well as some articles from foreign press. Most of the articles are interviews with famous Bulgarian politicians and intellectuals concerning the political situation and their personal involvement in some widely discussed cases, often scandals. The information about the different persons in the Name list differs in quantity depending on how much the press wrote about them. Three of the issues that are central and best presented here are: the case of Andrew Lucanov - one of the greatest younger politicians from the former communist elite who proceeded to take part in the political life after the changes until his murder. His case includes the scandal about the accusation of one of his officers - Nevena Gurova - who pretended to be oppressed by him. The other relatively large group of articles treats the problematic activity of economic privatization formation 'groupirovka’ ORION, problems with its bank and the scandal around the persons involved in it. The third larger unit of articles concerns the person of the famous Bulgaria medium and foreteller Wanga, mostly her death in August 1996 and the consecutive discussion about the approval of the church built by the circle of intellectuals around her.Accruals Not expected
