Scope and content
Captain Andrzej Czechowicz left Poland in 1963. Shortly after finishing his studies at the Faculty of History atof the University of Warsaw he entered the Polish Intelligence Service, and traveled to the West as an officer of that service. His mission was to “disembowel" centers of anti-Polish diversion, especially Radio Free Europe. He worked between 1965 and 1971 at the Radio as an evaluator. After his return he held a few press conferences on the case dealing with the financing of the Radio and the contacts between the CIA and RFE. He also took home quantities of original documents which proved this secret contact and which were published after his return to Poland in the Polish and other East European press.
Mieczyslaw Lach worked at the Audience and Public Opinion Research Department of Radio Free Europe between 1968 and 1974, when he returned to Poland with dozens of documents, photos and audio-tapes unmasking the information net of the Radio.
Andrzej Smolinski defected from Poland in August 1965. He and his wife had been employed at RFE since 1966. In 1974 he resigned from his post as senior evaluator in the research and analysis department. "He collaborated with a specialized intelligence service center of a certain capitalist state, from which they were sent to continue their work in the RFE" after his return to Poland."Accruals Not expected
