Extent and medium 3 Archival boxes, 0.38 linear meters
Scope and content
This series consists of limited distribution reports (analyses, studies, and interpretations), some of which were at that time considered strictly confidential and thus exclusively sent to the Director of the Romanian Broadcasting Department (RBD). Most of them originate from anonymized sources, but occasionally they had been produced by RFE’s regional News Bureaus (Paris, Vienna). The reports are part of the heritage of Noel Bernard, long-time director of the RBD; he had used them for policy making purposes and giving guidelines for broadcasters.
The topics reflected on in the reports are abundantly economic ones: five-year plans, fiscal policy, industrial branches, (especially Franco-Romanian) foreign trade. Occasionally, more sensitive issues are described: (re)defection, surveillance of foreign visitors, general state of spirit and morale in Romania.System of arrangement
