Scope and content

Radio Free Europe Report on Eastern Europe was a weekly publication that contained the research papers previously published in loose-leaf format as Background and Situation Reports. It continued to feature analyses by staff researchers at RFE/RL, as well as commissioned contributions from outside specialists. The Report incorporated a weekly chronology of key events in Eastern Europe and published occasional special issues covering single themes. Report on Eastern Europe was a critical gain in the period of accelerating developments in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union.
