Scope and content

This series contains a set of name indexes published in “Materialy Samizdata" and other reference materials.

The name indexes consist of lists of persons mentioned in a document, in alphabetical order. Each name was accompanied by references to the publication pages where it appeared; in some cases there is also some information on the person and references to other Samizdat documents. The information provided was supposed to aid understanding of the document, and its content depended on the context of the document. For example, the name index to AS 4517 lists Leonid Brezhnev; the name is accompanied by the following information: “adresant zaiavlenii E. Antsupova" [addressee of the application of E. Antsupov]
Additionally the series contains other reference materials (spravki) related to particular people, samizdat documents, and events.
