Materials in this series include press clippings, news agency releases, reports, publications and other printed materials.

In addition to the analysis, reportage and interviews, each issue of Index contains a section titled Index Index, which is basically a country by country list of free speech violations and persecutions of journalists. The background information for this censorship chronicle come from public sources: news agencies, other periodicals and HRNGOs.
