Series 5: Project Files

Date(s) 1985-1996

Extent and medium 17 Archival boxes, 2 linear meters

Scope and content

This series comprises materials related to projects: meetings, conferences, seminars, fact-finding missions, and trainings, that were organized, sponsored or frequented by IHF and, accordingly, they include correspondence, mission files, and reports.

Prior to the fall of the communist regimes, IHF has conducted quite a few unprecedented human rights missions into the Soviet Union and its satellites. Documents accumulated during missions to and events organized in Budapest, Prague, and Moscow can be found in this series.

One of the most important set of files dating from the transition period is the one related to the fact-finding mission to Croatia in 1993. These contain tens of individual cases of forced evictions of Serb nationals (mainly) working for the former JNA (Yugoslav National Army) on the territory of the newly independent Croatia.

The rest of files from the mid and late nineties deal mainly with events, programs, conferences, and seminars on monitoring, promoting and protecting human rights, intercultural living, and also trial monitoring.
