Scope and content

The Burma collection contains 256 raw and edited videos documenting the political and social situation in Burma from the 1988 uprising till 2002. Amateur footage, home movies and documentaries present Burma's struggle for democracy and the human rights abuses committed by the military Junta. A large number of the videos are news reports and background material (raw footage) made by CBS and ABC journalists.

The collection includes many of Aung San Suu Kyi's weekend speeches and recordings of NLD (National League for Democracy) party rallies. Rare state propaganda feature films are also part of the collection.
