The film follows Sok Thea, a 13-year old Cambodian boy who lost his leg to a land mine as he tended his family's cows. We see him as he struggles to use is new prosthesis, visits his family in rural Cambodia. Sok Thea is one of thousands of people maimed or killed in the aftermath of the country's genocidal civil war.

Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge party was responsible for the death of between 1 and 4 million people through disease, starvation and execution.
