Martus, The Human Rights Tool
OSA Martus Server Join the Martus community.
OSA offers training, software and server account to NGO's and activists, who work in the Human Rights field in any country of the world. Contact OSA at archives@ceu.hu for details.What is Martus:
- the Greek word for witness,
- a new powerful tool in the ongoing fight against human rights violations,
- a global Human Rights reporting system, which creates, stores and retrieves abuse information,
- a system that addresses the specific technological needs of the human rights community, especially of those working under dangerous conditions.
The Martus system:
- uses built-in encryption to safeguard data;
- enables text-based bulletins about violations to be created quickly; · securely backs up this information and replicates it in multiple locations to protect against loss; ·
- provides consumers of human rights information with access to the non-confidential portions of bulletins; and ·
- provides software in an Open Source format, encouraging easy code review to foster an atmosphere of trust and collaboration.
You can see public bulletins submitted to the OSA Martus server.
The Martus project is being developed by Benetech with significant funding from the Open Society Institute.
