Screening: Agitátorok (Agitators, 1969, black-and-white, 78 minutes, directed by Dezső Magyar) A coded movie on the student movements of 1968.
After World War One, some enthusiastic young people set up a platform for intellectuals within the Hungarian Communist Party. Their aim is to introduce communist ideology to ordinary people and to win over the workers. They themselves engage in heated theoretical debates about the relatively recent ideology, but their efforts to convert others prove mostly futile. They clash with people who are protesting against the Commune, and try to recruit workers for the Red Army, without much success.
