The Chernobyl Archives of Nobel Prize winner in literature, Svetlana Alexievich

Svetlana Alexievich donated her Chernobyl archives to OSA in 1998. These 44 hours of videotaped interviews served as the basis for her novel translated into English and published under the title, The Voices of Chernobyl. Alexievich spent nearly three years recording the interviews with help from her associate journalist, Tatiana Loginova.

The interviews were first shown at OSA in 2006 at the Atom Exhibition, on the request of the writer without mentioning her name.

The collection Living Voices of Chernobyl includes testimonies from engineers, scientists, party officials, priests, politicians and victims living in the zone. Especially interesting is the interview about the inertia of Russian authorities with Vasily Nesterenko, Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences .

These documents are of outstanding importance at a time when the Russian state archives are increasingly hard to access.

Szvetlana Alekszijevics csernobili archívumát 1998-ban ajándékozta az OSA Archívumnak. A negyvennégy órányi videó interjú szolgáltatta a nyersanyagot, a The Vocies of Chernobyl címmel angol fordításban is megjelent regényéhez.

A Living Voices of Chernobyl cimű gyűjtemèny a zónában élő mérnökök, tudósok, párthivatalnokok, papok, politikusok és áldozatok vallomásait tartalmazza. Különösen értékes a Vaszilij Nestyerenkóval, a Fehérorosz Tudományos Akadémia Atomkutató Intézetének igazgatójával folytatott beszélgetés az orosz hatóságok tehetetlenségéről.

Ezen fontos kordokumentumok kiemelkedő értékkel bírnak akkor, amikor az orosz állami archívumok gyűjteményei egyre nehezebben kutathatóak.
