Content from the 1989 Website

We are happy and proud to announce that our thematic website, 1989: lesz-e? (Will There Be A 1989?) has been seriously upgraded in the past few months. We have uploaded the meticulously rearranged and humungous Hungarian Press Survey from Radio Free Europe, which contains more than 15.000 pages of Hungarian press clippings from the year 1989.

Although most of the material is provided by the three national dailies (Magyar Hírlap, Magyar Nemzet, Népszabadság) and the major weekly newspapers and journals, there is plenty of interest in rural dailies, as well as in newspapers that are now forgotten, such as Reform, the Olvasó Nép (Reading Nation), or Mikrovilág (Microworld). The new content (together with the previously published ones) can be a useful help for teachers, journalists, and historians, but we recommend it to everyone who is happy to deal with the memory of 1989 and the regime change in Hungary, for personal or professional reasons.
