Digitization on demand service by Blinken OSA - Policy

Because of the global pandemic and especially in view of the relocation of CEU students and faculty to Vienna, Binken OSA is introducing Digitization on Demand services to accommodate remote research requests.

Before making a request, please check materials already available online in our Digital Repository and Curated Collections.

If you are a CEU student, check please the OSA Share Point - Research Cloud, which is available only for members of the CEU community. In order to browse it, you need to request registration from OSA’s Reference Services.

Researchers outside the CEU community will have access only to their own folder of material requested through the digitization on demand service.

One researcher can request up to two archival folders or approximately 200 pages per month, max. 2 book chapters per month, 2 audiovisual films and other archival materials. However, requests for additional archival and audiovisual materials by CEU students and Visegrad fellows will be considered on an individual basis and evaluated by the reference archivist in charge of the request.

Requests should be sent by email to digitization@osaarchivum.org, with precise details of the item required, specifying fonds, sub-fonds, series and folders/item call number.

The call number of a folder/container looks like this: 300-40-2:1/1

The call number of a Film Library item looks like this: FL Record 1990

We operate on a ’first come first served’ basis. You will receive an email within 2 working days about the status of your request.

a. If we do not require additional clarification from you about your request, we will process the request and notify you when digitized material is ready. We will also provide a link to the site where you can find the material and instructions about how to open it.

b. In cases where we find that your request contains insufficient information, the reference archivist will contact you and suggest a Teams, Zoom or Skype meeting to clarify and/or narrow down your request.

It may take up to 2 weeks to digitize your materials and upload them to the OSA Research Cloud. If the materials have to be sanitized, the reference archivists will need more time to complete your request.

For the members of the CEU community and Visegrad fellows, this service is free of charge. Other researchers will be charged according to OSA’s standard price list.
